Women are breaking barriers and setting new standards of excellence. Their contributions are reshaping the industry, bringing fresh perspectives, and driving innovation. In this blog, we’re thrilled to introduce one of Deployflow’s exceptional female engineers, Katarzyna Ciesielska.
Her journey highlights not only her achievements but also the broader impact of women in engineering. Through her dedication and expertise, she serves as an inspiring example for others in the field. We caught up with Katarzyna to discuss her journey into the world of engineering, her career path, inspiration, and the experience she has gained while working at Deployflow.
Women in engineering: challenges, inspiration, experiences
D: Can you tell us about your journey into engineering? What inspired you to pursue this field?
K: I have a strong passion for solving simple and complex problems, so I see this opportunity as an application engineer as a perfect chance to showcase my skills. It also allows me to assist those who may not be as technically savvy and to share my knowledge clearly and understandably.
D: What challenges have you faced as a woman in engineering, and how have you overcome them?
K: Early in my IT career, there was some skepticism about my abilities. However, over time, I have demonstrated my credibility and proven that I can provide training and explanations on complex issues as effectively as my male colleagues.
D: Could you share a memorable project or accomplishment you worked on in Deployflow?
I’m currently working at Zilch, which was one of the pioneering projects with Deployflow. This role is both challenging and dynamic, as the project is constantly evolving. I truly enjoy the work, and I’m dedicated to maintaining the high quality and excellent service that we strive for at Deployflow. The fast-paced nature of the project keeps me engaged and motivated to improve and deliver our best continuously.
Women in engineering: Future ambitions and technological advancements
D: How can we encourage more young women to pursue careers in STEM fields, particularly engineering?
C: I don’t think we need to push women to work in this sector as much anymore. The job market has evolved, and more women are naturally pursuing careers in tech and related fields without needing extra encouragement. The shift is already happening, and women are increasingly stepping into these roles on their own.
D: In your opinion, what are some of the most exciting developments or innovations happening in engineering today?
C: First off, Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic right now and is getting a lot of buzz globally. It’s a game-changer in the IT world, but I think we need to be careful not to rely on it entirely. There will always be a need for human expertise to oversee and guide these technologies.
Another fascinating area in engineering is the development of fully automated vehicles. These can be incredibly useful, especially for people with disabilities. While full automation can streamline and enhance efficiency, it can also introduce new challenges. That’s where we engineers come in—we’re needed to tweak and manage these systems to keep things running smoothly. Overall, though, automation has a huge positive impact on energy efficiency, security, and user experience.
Empowering women at Deployflow
D: In what ways do you think Deployflow contributes to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for women in engineering?
C: I think that Deployflow really promotes open communication and accountability across the board. Everyone, regardless of gender, feels included in the company’s culture and development, making us all feel like equal parts of the Deployflow community.
During our team meetings with the Polish crew in Warsaw, we’re constantly learning from one another, exploring new solutions, and openly discussing any issues that come up. Plus, we always have a good laugh, which makes working at Deployflow even more enjoyable and welcoming. I really love being part of this team!
